We hope you’re enjoying a great 2009 so far.

We’ll make this update short and just let you know that the SystemRunner Online Trading Classrooms are back online tonight! It is held at 9 p.m. Pacific Time, so there is just less than four hours to go.

There is a lot to get caught up on and we’ll look at the performance of our demo portfolio, also, and see if and how we can adjust it.

You can access the room for free by following the steps below for now.

STEP 1:
Login to your user account with our partner Trading Post Financial Services - http://www.tradingpostfinancial.com/ser … ex/login/. (If you do not have a FREE user account, click on Create an Account on the right side of the screen).

STEP 2:
After you login to the Client Services Portal, scroll down to “My Services.” Select the “Online Trading Rooms” tab.

STEP 3:
Click on the SystemRunner icon. The room will launch.

Demo Portfolio Performance

It is true that the SystemRunner Demo Portfolio was active on all trading days during the holiday break. So whatever your circumstance, if you were trading with a SystemRunner portfolio, you quite possibly could have been in the market, but with your loved ones at the same time.

The performance in general leaves a little to be desired, but one thing to keep in mind is that since Dec. 15 when the six strategies to the portfolio were added together, we have left the portfolio untouched. Usually as an active manager you might adjust some things on a daily or weekly basis.

As mentioned in the most recent Weekly Wrap, a few members of the SystemRunner Online Trading Classroom created a demo portfolio.

Of the three contributors, they each selected two strategies. After two weeks, the simple statistics are below.

Overall, the six chosen strategies are profitable, although there is a wide range in performance of strategies chosen. Remember, if you are a live account trader with SystemRunner or attend our weekly online classroom session, you will know exactly what strategies have been chosen!

I, just in the past couple of weeks, have opened a demo acct with SystemRunner. I have had a difficult and confusing experience in trying to get the demo account understood and up and running. Sam spent a good hour or so on the phone with me and I thought I had some new clues about how to get going. I may be so new and unininformed thet this is just beyond me but I just don't get it. When I log into my trading account none of the directions contained in the getting started tutorials seem to work for me. One conundrum is the tutorial's direction to open my trading account while the tutorial is underway. I don't know how to do this. Other features described in the tutorial don't seem to come up or behave as described.

Is there anyone out there who has experienced the same kind of problems in getting this understood? I very much like the description of the SysteRunner format and would like to begin trading but so far I'm stumped!

Thank you for the come back. I feel like a real dumbie but I can't figure out how to enter a trade on my demo acct. I must be overlooking something in the tutorials. Can you point me in the right direction?

One of the most recent developments is the partnership with two additional brokers that will be coming on board in the near future.

BROKER Development
GAIN Capital and ODL Securities will join FXCM as brokers you will be able to trade SystemRunner with.

WEBSITE Development
SystemRunner is getting ready to launch a new and improved website in the next few weeks.

One thing to note that I think all of us trading the platform went through over the last few days of this past week is the volatility of the market. Because of this volatility all the brokers, FXCM included (which is currently the sole SystemRunner partner broker) were forced to widen their spreads - some to great extents.

This had tremendous effects on trades that were executed, and is one reason why you always have to keep an eye on your portfolio to ENSURE that you are not close to being overexposed. As a pure hypothetical example if the EUR/USD spread is 3 pips, and that widens to 25 pips, you have more than 8 times more ground to make up before getting to the breakeven point. This is especially important to keep in mind for those scalping strategies that take multiple positions a day and multiple contracts per trade.

This will be a main topic of discussion in a coming Online Trading Classroom.

So the lesson is, not micromanaging your portfolio, as much as not having too many strategies piled into one portfolio. If there are more strategies that you want to trade live, open another account - if your risk capital allows it.

Hi Dale ... Good observation. Indeed there has not been very much activity in the Forum. But there has been much activity in terms of trading the platform and communication in other ways.

We've been working on a number of different things at SystemRunner, but most of it has centered around how to help users of the platform take advantage of everything it has to offer. Compared to many other automated solutions, this is one of the easiest to run logistically ... and we are here to help. I guess we just needed to fine tune some of the thinking on our side.

Now we're here and we've been actively engaged with those who have previously been interested, as well as folks like yourself who have come upon our website. You'll notice there is a definite lack of marketing pizazz on our website and that is by design. If the solution is good you don't need smoke and mirrors for it.

With that said, let me say that we are conducting a weekly online trading classroom for SystemRunner on Monday nights (although it is on a holiday break until the new year), and we are sending out twice weekly updates on various strategies available in the strategy library, and we will be unveiling a new, simple website with some additional overviews and tips on how to get up and going with SystemRunner.

In the meantime we'll reach out to you and get you rolling with it.

I have been looking into the fx world for just a couple of months and just recently come accross the SystemRunner site. It appears to me that there are very few participants and nothing in the forums that is "fresh". I am wondering if the sparse evidence of users is a indication of a low level of users or am I missing something? I would like to network with someone who could take me thru the baby steps of this system. I am a +70 retired guy in the Tucson area. Thx in advance.

On Monday, those in the SystemRunner Online Trading Classroom put together a practice portfolio that we can all follow every week we meet.

In 72 or so hours since that time the six strategies that were selected have made a total of 743 pips to date on 31 trades. That is a 24 pip per average on a trade and the winning percentage was 87% (27 wins / 4 losses).

The top performing strategy was Mini_Buys: EUR/GBP which gained 451 pips on 11 for 11 trading (41 pips per trade).

You can find out the other strategies in the portfolio by joining us in the Online Trading Classrooms on Monday nights (it is on hiatus until Jan. 5) or if you are trading live with SystemRunner.

We will post applicable information on the SystemRunner user forum over the holidays. It's an exciting time to be autotrading and we are seeing an increased demand to take advantage of the fully automated solution that SystemRunner provides.

It's the beginning of a new trading week, and we got started off in the SystemRunner Online Trading Classroom last night in a great way. We talked strategy, and even created our own demo portfolio with six strategies.

The coming weeks will show how good those of us in the room are at managing a portfolio can can be shared with everyone who drops in.

Some of the strategies added included:

- Mini-Buys: EUR/GBP
- TrendEscape: EUR/USD
- Innisoft: GBP/USD

There were various reasons why we chose the strategies we did and we'll see how the entire portfolio performs. The beauty of SystemRunner is that you get to create your own portfolio and you aren't alone, as we are here to support you.

Most strategies we share are performing well in live SystemRunner accounts, and so aren't just "hypothetical."

Have a great trading week this week, and we encourage you to take a closer look at SystemRunner and add true autotrading to your portfolio.

The week isn't over yet, but we thought we'd update you with a review of two strategies we've been keeping an eye on that have performed well over the last several months and have been extremely successful over the past week.

Mini_Buys EUR/GBP
Took 9 trades for a total of 580 pips.

MAX1 GBP/USD
This short-term strategy took multiple positions a day for approximately 670 pips.

That is a total of 1250 pips for the week. A few of our live traders have been trading these to success in their automated SystemRunner accounts.

We hope you've enjoyed a solid start to the week.

SystemRunner is having its second Online Trading Classroom tonight, where a list of things to look for in creating a good portfolio will be shared.

As always a review of a few notable systems will also take place. More on that at the bottom of this post.

One of the most active and successful strategies has been from the MAX system provider. It trades frequently throughout the day, but the risk/reward and frequent activity has attracted a few SystemRunner live traders.

- MAX 1 GBP/USD had 14 trades last week for a 66% win rate and yielded 4.22 pips per trade, which might seem insignificant, but it had a profit factor of 13.67 and a Maximum Drawdown of -8. If you dig further you'll see that this strategy takes 6 contracts at a time. Which obviously compounds the risk as well as reward.

Conversely there have been many strategies that have proven to be poor risk/reward choices.

- AUD/CAD Mover had eight -300 pip trades over the past week, combined with winners that equaled 28 pips. Although if you look at EUR/JPY Mover and CHF/JPY Mover, both had fairly successful weeks.

- Many of the strategies based on volatile currency pairs such as the GBP/JPY experienced an extremely poor November. If you look at Insider Breakout GBP/JPY you'll see over the past week that in approximate terms it gained 2500 pips, but lost 1000. There are major swings in these volatile strategies that perhaps require a very well funded account, and a high appetite for risk.

I'm convinced that, sure profitable strategies are great and obviously necessary, but Money Management and the three available options when a trader goes live is as important an aspect to being successful with this as anything else.

I just would like to see more of a breakdown of money management strategies or at the very least have others share their thoughts.
